Xastir Setup
Based on Ubuntu 9.04 with Xastir 1.9.4
Installing Xastir
First, download and install Xastir using your package manager or from source.
Running OTWINCFG.exe in Ubuntu
The otwincfg.exe
is a Windows application, so you need Wine to run it on Ubuntu.
To install Wine:
sudo apt-get install wine
Download otwincfg.exe
and save it to your desktop. To launch the program:
- Right-click on
otwincfg.exe
- Select Open with Wine Windows Program Loader
Configuring Xastir
- Launch Xastir.
- Go to Interface > Interface Control.
- Click Add.
- Choose Serial KISS TNC from the list and click Add again.
Serial Port Info
- COM1 corresponds to
/dev/ttyS0
- Set the baud rate to 9600 bps
Depending on your hardware and preferences, there are several interface options you can configure.
I’ve been using Xastir with my T2 for over a year now as a fill-in digi with IGate TX/RX (LA5PPA-2
