Connecting an LCD to the OT2m
The OT2m supports a 20x4 character display, which connects via the MON08 programming header.
Most common LCD pinouts connect as follows:
MON08 Pin | LCD Pin(s) | Function |
---|---|---|
1 | 4 | RS |
2 | 1 and 5 | Ground and R/W |
3 | 6 | E |
8 | 14 | Data7 |
10 | 11 | Data4 |
12 | 13 | Data6 |
14 | 12 | Data5 |
15 | 2 | +5V |
💡 Note: If your LCD requires a positive voltage on the contrast pin, install a resistor (typically a few hundred ohms) between LCD pins 1 and 3. The value depends on display model and desired viewing angle.
The Tracker2 will begin using the LCD automatically — no configuration required.
Example Wiring Harness
This wiring harness adds contrast and backlight control to the standard LCD connection.
If you need to remove the LCD harness, the following example shows a neat setup:
- Case is notched (upper left)
- Connector added to PCB (lower left)
- Split grommet for cable (right inset)
⚠️ Ignore the black/white wires — they are unused extras.
